Heather Box and Julian Mocine-McQueen believe that everyone has a story to tell, and that story has the power to influence others—family, friends, a community, or even the whole world. In their book How Your Story Sets You Free they explain why storytelling is the most powerful way there is to inspire others and build lasting connections, and they guide readers step by step through the process of uncovering and sharing their own authentic personal stories. The techniques in this book work equally well whether you want write your story down or tell it in person.

They speak and run workshops all over the world to share their tools and support change makers in standing up to use their voice.

Their bio:

Heather Box and Julian Mocine-McQueen are the founders of the Million Person Project. Since 2011, they have helped over 3,000 change makers from 70 countries tell their stories.

They have prepared Ugandan Farmers to speak at the United Nations, coached social entrepreneurs for their first TED talks, and helped first-time writers craft powerful magazine and newspaper articles. They have worked with Reshma Saujani, founder of Girls Who Code; acclaimed artist Caledonia Curry (SWOON); and musician Sara Bareilles and dozens of other noted leaders.

And they have led storytelling workshops with underrepresented communities, including prison projects in Pennsylvania and Oregon working with men serving life sentences, and a project with refugees who had recently made the journey from Syria to Sweden. In 2015, Julian was recognized as one of "10 Leaders reshaping the Environmental movement by Huffington Post and Heather and Julian were members of the inaugural "Grist 50 Fixers" list. The Million Person Project was also recognized by Grist as one of 16 projects to watch in 2016.

Heather and Julian live in San Francisco with their son, Roman, who was born in 2019.
