YOUR STORY IS PART OF WOMEN’S HISTORY

Did you know that 87% of biographies are written by men?

Were you aware that 68% of TED speakers are men?

Did you know that 68.3% of all talk show hosts are men?

This gap is unacceptable, and the statistics for women of color are even lower, residing in the single digits.

To cultivate a culture that truthfully reflects our experiences, we must amplify women's voices. As women, it's our responsibility to be visible and share our narratives. Our stories contribute to history, and if we remain silent, they risk being forever untold.

Many women, particularly mothers, tend to shy away from the spotlight. Movements like #getinthepicture highlight the tendency of moms always behind the camera but rarely in the frame. While it may stem from good intentions, it's time for women to leverage their voices in new and profound ways, ensuring that women's stories make their mark in history!

Ever wondered what it was like for women in the 1940s, responsible for all child-rearing and household duties? Don't you wish you could read a memoir detailing a woman's navigation through that era and her emotions?

Have you ever pondered the experiences of women who entered the workforce during World War II, filling roles traditionally held by men? Wouldn't it be fascinating to read about those moments? Well, there are people who want to hear about your experiences too. What was it like navigating COVID with a small child? How did you feel? What were you thinking? How is it to work full-time in 2024 while raising kids? What is it like to turn your passion into a job? What was the experience of getting divorced in 2024? Deciding not to have kids? Traveling the world alone? Healing family trauma? Being in a polyamorous relationship? Surviving cancer? Breaking a glass ceiling at work?

This is history in the making, and your story is a crucial part of it.

Take the time to understand your story.

Decide how you want to share it with the world—whether through a TED talk, an article, a blog, or a note to a friend. Let your voice and story become interwoven into the social fabric of our society.

During Women’s History Month, the Million Person Project is supporting women nationwide in commencing their storytelling journey. Heather and Julian are leading workshops in bookstores, boardrooms, schools, and city halls, helping women use their voices and share their stories. They are organizing life mapping events, and you can too!

Get our book, How Your Story Sets You Free, and host a life mapping night to share your stories.
